Food Bank Sunday.
It's the first Sunday of the month so share whatever you can. As per Cathy from Bow Valley Food Bank, they are very much in need of canned (chunky or regular) or packaged (ramen etc) soups, hamburger helper, sidekicks and anything else hearty that will help folks get through the frigid temps that are fast approaching. Please rememeber, that food banks in Canada are not accepting diet suplements. |

Women's Retreat at Mount St.Francis in Cochrane. Feb.9th-11thThe theme for this weekend is 'All is Made New': pondering the insights of St. Francis. The conferences are given by the retreat team ( Friars and Susan who is the Director for the centre) Each retreatant has their own room (single bed, desk, chair, sink) all bedding & towels are provided asf well as all meals, snacks, beverages (coffee, tea, juice) you only need bring your own personal items, toiletries, perhaps a journal. There is a library with big comfy chairs to relax in, a bookstore, chapel, dining room, conference room. The long foyer has many of the same comfy chairs looking out across the lawns toward the mountains - it's a favorite area for ladies to sit, read, , some bring knitting etc, pray, relax. I recommend bringing good winter boots & warm clothing as there are acres of land and trees for walking, pathways to explore for those who like to be outside. There are conferences Saturday and one on Sunday but there is also plenty of time for relaxing, walking, reading. The weekend really is a beautiful gift. The Friars do not want a price to hinder someone from coming, it does cost the centre about $215 to host each of us for the weekend and we are invited to give that amount if possible or otherwise what we are able. Payments are done Sunday morning, (cash, cheque, debit, visa) it's all explained Saturday evening.
