Vigil For JasperThursday August 1st at Ralph Connor Memorial United Church in Canmore We have all been overwhelmed with the news about the destruction caused by the fires in Jasper. It is hard to comprehend that so many people’s lives have been turned upside down due to the loss of livelihoods, homes, treasured possessions, and so much more, as well as the devastating impact on wildlife in the area. This is a time of deep emotions accompanied by a strong desire to help in some way. As an act of solidarity with the people of Jasper, on Thursday August 1st we will be holding a vigil at Ralph Connor Memorial United Church in Canmore (617 - 8 St.). From 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm, our doors will be open to welcome anyone who would like to come for a time of quiet reflection, prayer and to create tangible expressions of love and support on a reflection wall. At 7:00pm there will be a time to gather with others to share together in prayer, music, readings, and encouragement. If you would like to make a financial contribution to support the people of Jasper, donations are being received for the Rocky Mountain Community Relief Fund of the Banff Canmore Foundation (www.banffcanmorefoundation.org), and by the Red Cross 2024 Alberta Wildfires Appeal (www.redcross.ca or 1-800-418-1111). In addition, most of the churches in Jasper, including the United, Anglican, Roman Catholic, and Pentecostal churches, have ways to donate to their specific congregation through their own websites. We hope you will join us in prayerfully supporting the entire community of Jasper and all those whose lives are being affected by this massive wildfire. Please feel free to pass this message along to anyone who might be interested. For more information, please contact Ralph Connor Memorial United Church |
A Prayer for Restoration and HopeSt. Mary & St. George Anglican Church, Jasper Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon all who are affected by this tragedy. Grant solace to the parishioners, clergy, and all who hold this church dear. May they find peace in the midst of their grief and hope in the promise of Your unending love. We pray for the community that has gathered around this place of worship, that they may come together in unity and support one another through this challenging time. Strengthen their bonds and help them rebuild not just the walls, but the spirit of fellowship and faith that has long been a cornerstone of this church. Guide the hands of those who work towards restoration. May their efforts be blessed, and may the new beginnings be marked by renewed faith and dedication. As the church is rebuilt, may it stand as a testament to Your grace and a beacon of hope for all who seek You. We trust in Your divine providence and pray for the strength to move forward with courage and resilience. May the spirit of St. Mary and St. George continue to inspire and uplift, and may Your light shine brightly in the hearts of all who call this church their spiritual home. In Your holy name we pray, Amen. For more infomation visit:
