From the Interim’s Desk
Well Friends, this month of October is quickly drawing to a close. These two months have just flown by. Again, I want to express my sincere thanks for the words of encouragement and for those who are concerned that someone my age should not ‘overwork’ themselves! I am doing my best to follow their advice! These last few days of October and the first few of November are filled with activity. To begin, on Tuesday next ( Oct. 31st) at 12:00 noon there will be a lunchtime gathering of people who wish to discuss the material contained in the book, We Make The Road by Walking. Attendees are asked to bring their own lunch sandwich. I will provide the coffee, tea and water. The format is lunchtime fellowship; reading of the scriptures for the chapter; listening to Brian McLaren’s reading of the weekly reflection and finally, we will discuss our reaction to his material based on his chapter questions. My hope is that we will wrap up by 1:00 p.m. Wed, Nov. 1st is the Feast of All Saints. There will be a weekday celebration of Holy Communion at 12:00 noon in our historic church. I plan to offer a monthly weekday service at 12:00 noon on the first Wed of each month going forward. Please join me as we celebrate the Saints of God who have influenced our collective walks of faith. (The next one will be on Dec. 6th at 12:00 in the church and we will celebrate the Feast of Nicholas, Bishop of Myra.) Thursday, Nov. 2nd we will hold what I hope will be “Our Biggest Pot Luck Supper Ever”. It will begin at 5:30 p.m. and hopefully will have a sort of ‘Trivial Pursuit’ question time once all have been fed. There may be prizes! I plan to cook a ham but we truly want it to be ‘pot luck’ so bring whatever you have and join in the food and fellowship! There is no need to sign up! If we need more table and chair space we will simply put them in place! Sunday, Nov. 5th our Sunday Worship will take place in the hall at 10:00 a.m. Marcus & Pat Herrel will join us to blend their musical skills with our voices as we gather to worship. Thanks in advance to Marcus and Pat for their offering of their time and talent to our Worship. On Wednesday of this week (yesterday) I was inducted into the membership of the Canmore Rotary Club. I plan to use my membership in the club and its community service to give expression to my service in the community. Next week, in my next ‘epistle’ I hope to share with you my report on my ministry among you now that two months of my 12 month service with you are completed. Blessings in Christ, |

GoFundMe for Liz and her daughter Nicole.
As many of you already know, Liz and her daughter lost the place they rented due to the fire on September 16th. Luckily, no one got hurt but they lost pretty much everything they had... Their favourite items, clothes and memories are gone. They have insurance but it will take a long time before they will get any money. Hotel where Nicole is working offered them temporary accommodation but still it's not cheap. Due to the housing crisis in Bow Valley, both ladies are struggling right now to find an affordable accommodation. Liz and Nicole were born and raised in Canmore and their family have been members here for over 100 years now. If you can, donate as every penny matters. On October 26th we remember Alfred the Great. The king and reformer of the Church. When the Gospel was first preached in Britain, the island was inhabited by Celtic peoples. In the 500's, pagan Germanic tribes, the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes, invaded Britain and drove the Christian Celts out of what is now England into Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. The new arrivals (called collectively the Anglo-Saxons) were then converted by Celtic missionaries moving in from the one side and Roman missionaries moving in from the other. (They then sent missionaries of their own, such as Boniface, to their pagan relatives on the Continent.) For more infomation visit:
