Kids can’t wait for Christmas. Adults can’t wait until they retire. Others can’t wait for their next paycheque, their loved one to get better, of the latest new technological toy.

What is it for you? The one thing you are waiting for - and you wish it would just happen right now?

Habakkuk is a strange name for a bible book, it’s a wonder you’d find anything valuable in it, right? Not at all! Because Habakkuk asks God a question that is common to all of us: Why do you let certain things happen, and when are you going to get around to making things right? Here’s God’s response:

For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
    it speaks of the end
    and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
    it will certainly come
    and will not delay.
Habakkuk 2:3

God’s short answer: hang in there.

But his long answer comes to us in prayer. So spend some time, even now, talking with God about what you’re waiting on him to do.

It’s okay to tell God exactly how you’re feeling. When you’ve shared all your thoughts, read the verse above, allowing God to speak directly to you through his Word. Then, be still for at least one minute and wait to hear his response to you.
