LUKE 6:20-31
Comfort the Afflicted & Afflict the Comfortable

A saint isn't a mountain sage with deep cryptic wisdom. A saint is someone who lives a life dedicated to Jesus.

And Jesus gives us the shape of a saintly life in the Beatitudes. These words are comfort for the afflicted and afflict the comfort. Because Jesus promises to always be there, and to turn the wrongs we suffer into something beautiful. But we reject this when we choose comfort over Jesus.

A honest faith proclaim "Christ died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again". This truth and its implications won't cooexist neatly with the spirit of the age. But our goal isn't to harmonize to the culture, but to follow Jesus even if it makes us uncomfortable in our world. We must do this if we are honest followers of Jesus, if we are to be saints.
