On September 13, 2019, over 200 registered walkers raised awareness and funds for the Bow Valley YWCA, by walking in women's footwear to experience and empathize with those who have been victims of abuse.

Howard donned a pair of traditional suede moccasins, to show solidarity with our First Nations women.

The YWCA goal of $65,000 was easily achieved to fund:

VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAMS

SUPPORT & COUNSELLING SERVICES

ADVOCACY

YWCA WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES® has raised close to $550,000 in the past ten years. More than 1500 participants from across the Bow Valley have taken a stand against domestic violence by walking, volunteering, and fundraising for Walk A Mile!

Bow Valley YWCA is a community-based, social profit organization with over 100 years of experience in Banff and the Bow Valley. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, YWCA shapes a safe, inclusive community that empowers women and girls.

Walk A Mile is essential in reaching annual fundraising goals to help meet the service needs of our community. All  services are free of charge, professional, and confidential, and are accessible to all Bow Valley residents.

Funds raised from Walk A Mile directly support the YWCA’s work to stop violence in our community. Fundraising efforts and donations will directly support these essential programs and services offered throughout the entire Bow Valley.

More details about the programs and services are available at www.ywcabanff.ca.
